Exmore, Va. – Virginia State Police are investigating a recent suspicious fire that resulted in the death of a woman on the Eastern Shore.
Around 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 27th, the Exmore Volunteer Fire Department requested assistance from Virginia State Police to investigate a fatal residential trailer fire in the 7200 block of Occohannock Neck Road in Exmore.
The sole resident of the trailer, 70-year-old Shirley Onley, was later found to be deceased at the scene.
Her remains were transported to the Medical Examiner’s office in Norfolk and as a result of her autopsy, the death is being treated as a homicide.
