Fire crews put out flames at Norfolk apartment

Norfolk, Va. – Fire crews put out flames at a Norfolk apartment on Tuesday afternoon.

This happened in the 7600 block of Victory Drive at 12:40 p.m.

A citizen noticed smoke was coming from the apartment and called 911.

Crews arrived on the scene at 12:44 p.m. when they reported smoke coming from the second floor of the two-story apartment.

Firefighters went into the apartment and found a fire inside of the kitchen area and it was spreading throughout the apartment.

Firefighters conducted a search and did not find anyone. No one was at home when the fire started.

The apartment has been condemned. No one was injured.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The apartment did not have working smoke alarms at the time.
