Newport News, Va. – A Williamsburg woman was indicted for stealing over half a million dollars from a man she worked for as a housekeeper and assistant.
The victim was a resident of a Williamsburg retirement community and paid Dana Morris $400 a month for five hours of work per week.
Morris did laundry, ran errands and sorted the victim’s mail.
Court documents indicate that Morris altered checks given to her by the victim and also forged some checks, resulting in a total of $558,595.26 stolen through 117 checks.
Morris is scheduled to appear for a jury trial on July 19.
