Road set to close permanently on Holland Road Connection Project

Posted

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Work is continuing on the Holland Road Connection Project and now VDOT is preparing to permanently close a road as part of the project.

Barberry Lane will close permanently starting at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 18.

Once the road is closed, drivers will have to take another route to get to Holland Road and Dam Neck Road.

Southbound traffic will be able to take Winterberry Lane and Damascus Trail to Holland Road. Northbound traffic will be able to use Monet Drive and Dam Neck Road to reach Holland Road.

The Holland Road Connection project started in spring of 2015.

It stretches 2.5 miles and will expand the road from an existing two-lane road to four lanes connecting Dam Neck Road to Nimmo Parkway.

As construction continues, traffic shifts will happen as temporary and new pavement is completed. When lane closures are needed, they will only happen during off-peak hours from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A 35-mile per hour speed limit has been put into effect throughout the work zone.

The project is scheduled to be completed in October 2017.
