Norfolk home damaged by bedroom fire

Norfolk, Va. – A Norfolk home was destroyed by fire on Thursday morning, according to Norfolk Fire-Rescue.

Units responded to the 2600 block of Chesapeake Boulevard at 10:07 a.m. after a concerned citizen noticed smoke coming from the single-story home.

Firefighters from Engine Company 2 arrived and made entry into the home where they discovered a fire inside the bedroom.

The fire was quickly extinguished and contained to the bedroom.

Firefighters opened the walls to search for hot spots and any possible fire extensions.

Due to the fire and smoke damage, the home is uninhabitable at this time.

No one was home at the time of the fire. No firefighters were injured.

According to Norfolk Fire-Rescue, the home did not have working smoke alarms.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
