Tasley, Va – State Police say 19 year-old Austin C. Rainey of Chapel Hill, NC was killed after the van he was riding in was hit by a truck then by a tractor trailer.
Police say Linda Stevens, 63, was driving a 2006 Ford F-150 on Daugherty Road and turned onto Route 13 into the path of the 2000 Chevrolet van Rainey was riding in.
As they were attempting to get out of the vehicles, the van was struck by a 2005 Freightliner tractor trailer that was traveling northbound on Route 13.
Rainey, who was the backseat passenger in the Chevrolet van, was killed upon impact. Four other people who were in the van were able to make it out prior to the impact.
Stevens has been charged with failure to yield right of way.
