Virginia Beach, Va. - The 31st Annual Mid-Atlantic Home and Garden Show in Virginia Beach is happening this weekend, but this year it has a new name!
They're shedding the 'Garden' and instead branding it 'Outdoor Living.'
"Now people are looking at their backyards as an extension of their primary living space – so its like why cant I have an outdoor living room? Why can't I have an outdoor kitchen?" says Jean McCullough, staff VP of the Tidewater Builders Association. "I think we’ll also attract an audience that might hear the name Home and Garden and think 'well that sounds a little dated, but Home and Outdoor Living, now that sounds exciting!"
Spanning almost the entire Virginia Beach Convention Center, its the largest show of it's kind in the Mid-Atlantic.
"It’s a little bit like Disneyland, you know, you have to set aside a couple of hours. This is not 20 minutes in, 20 minutes out," says McCullough. "But the time will fly by. The next thing you know you'll go 'I can't believe I've been here for three hours!' It’s a lot to see and do."
They've got everything you need for improving, remodeling or renovating your home. And even if you're not in the market for home changes, Jean says you'll still find something that interests you.
"Even if you're just an HGTV junkie you know its just fun to take in new ideas. There will be food sampling, we have a lot of home products... There's just a lot of fun things to do, a lot of interesting people to talk to."
The show runs Friday through Sunday and is open from 10am to 6pm each day. There will be over $40,000 worth of giveaways and even some HGTV personalities. For a full list of vendors and appearances, check out their website.
