Chesapeake, Va. – Chesapeake Fire Department crews were called to a house fire in the 2400 block of Mt. Pleasant Road on Wednesday morning.
Firefighters arrived on scene at 10:48 a.m. and reported flames coming from the one-story home.
The fire was declared under control at 11:36 a.m.
Due to the extensive damage done to the home by the fire, the four adults living in the home were displaced. They have made other lodging arrangements in the area.
Two pets — a cat and a bird, died in the fire.
One firefighter sustained minor injuries during a fall. No one else was injured.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
