Newport New, Va. – Police arrested 18- year-old Hunter Horton after he was released from the hospital Sunday morning.
According to police Horton was shot around 10:50 p.m. Saturday in the 11000 block of Jefferson Avenue.
He suffered from a gunshot wound in his left calf and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
When he was released from the hospital, Hunter was arrested on two outstanding warrants – for assault and battery on a family member and an emergency protective order violation.
Police are still investigating the shooting and have not released any information on a suspect.
The Saturday night shooting was the third in one day for the city.
Saturday afternoon, a 19-year-old was shot twice in the leg.
Early Saturday morning, a 39-year-old was shot in the chest in a bar parking lot.
