Coast Guard rescues man with head injury from boat off Hatteras Inlet

Hatteras, NC – The Coast Guard medevaced a man from a fishing boat on Monday after he suffered a head injury.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Hatteras Inlet were notified at 9:10 a.m. that a crew member on the boat Miss Kayleigh was injured approximately six miles south of Hatteras Inlet.

A 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew and a 47-foot Motor Life Boat crew launched at 9:15 a.m. and arrived on scene at 9:47 a.m. The RBS crew medevaced the man and arrived at Station Hatteras Inlet at 10:20 a.m.

The man was transported to the Outer Banks Hospital in Nag’s Head by awaiting EMS personnel.
