Elizabeth City, NC – The Coast Guard rescued three people from a boat that began taking on water early Wednesday approximately six miles east of Oregon Inlet.
Watchstanders from Coast Guard Sector North Carolina were notified Tuesday around 11:30 p.m. that a 43-foot commercial fishing vessel with three people aboard was taking on water.
Coast Guard Station Oregon Inlet launched a 47-foot Motor Lifeboat crew to assist the vessel in distress. The coxswain of the 47-foot MLB made the decision to deploy two crew members and a dewatering pump to assist with dewatering efforts.
The 47-foot MLB crew escorted the vessel to Wanchese, North Carolina.
No injuries were reported.
