Suffolk, Va. – Durrell “Scott” Mills has been appointed as Deputy City Manager for the City of Suffolk effective March 17, City Manager Patrick Roberts announced Thursday.
Mills has been serving as the interim Deputy City Manager since June 1, 2015.
Mills, 53, has been employed by the City of Suffolk since 1987 when he was first employed by the Department of Planning, and has held various positions within that Department including Environmental Planner, Principal Planner, Assistant Director and Director.
He has also served on two previous occasions as Interim Deputy City Manager.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Planning degree from East Carolina University, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners.
Scott and his wife Angela have two sons, Austin, age 20, and Dixon, age 16
Roberts is pleased to have Mills in the position of Deputy City Manager. “Scott has an extensive history with the City of Suffolk and his vast knowledge and experience make him uniquely qualified to hold this position”. On his selection Mills advised, “I look forward to serving in this capacity.”
