New Jersey man arrested for Hampton maiming incident

Hampton, Va. – A New Jersey man was arrested in connection with a maiming incident.

On March 4 around 5 p.m., officers responded to a complaint of a large crowd in the 3800 block of Kecoughtan Road.

When police arrive, the crowd dispersed.

Investigation revealed that a 27-year-old Hampton man and a 26-year-old New Jersey man, Harold Treacher, were in a verbal argument when Treacher displayed a firearm and began physically assaulting the Hampton man.

During the assault, police say the firearm was accidentally discharged by Treacher.

There were no injuries as a result of the firearm being discharged.

Treacher, has been charged with one count of Maiming, one count of Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony, one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and one count of Reckless Handling of a Firearm.
