Portsmouth, Va. – A man will serve 12 years in prison for the October 2014 shooting death of 32-year-old Melvin Brown.
Lawrence Gordon, Jr. was found guilty of killing Brown on Queen Street in Portsmouth.
Brown was shot several times in the upper body.
Gordon was sentenced to 10 years for a manslaughter charge and four years with two suspended on a firearm charge. He will also have two years of supervised probation.
Gordon was arrested in North Carolina on unrelated charges in November 2014 and extradited to Virginia in July 2015.
