Norfolk, Va. – Norfolk City Council has unanimously approved three new proposals that expand the city’s growing love for craft beer.

A new microbrewery will soon be opening in Norfolk’s NEON district. City Council approved plans for Bearded Bird Brewing Co. to open at 725 Granby Street, in a space in between Bress Pawn Shop and Fuzion Ink Tattoo and Body Piercing.

The establishment plans to be open seven days a week and serve microbrews, along with growlers and six-packs that can be bought for off-premises consumption. They also plan to do karaoke, trivia nights and open mic nights.

City Council also approved plans to expand operations for two existing establishments in the city.

The Barrel Room, which is located at 437 Granby Street, has also been granted new permission to sell alcohol for off-premises consumption. They will now offer growlers and six-packs for purchase. The establishment has also increased their seating capacity and will now offer several outdoor seating options.

Another establishment that will now be offering six-packs and growlers for sale is Cure Coffeehouse and Brasserie, located at 501 Botetourt Street. The cafe is also expanding into two adjacent suites, which will double their seating capacity both indoors and outdoors. They also plan to soon offer trivia nights, open mic nights and karaoke.
