Newport News, Va. – A person died after in a single vehicle traffic crash on Shoe Lane early Friday morning.
Newport News police and fire department units were dispatched the crash scene around 1:45 a.m.
Upon arrival, Newport News and Christopher Newport University officers discovered a Dodge pick-up truck had struck a tree and sustained severe damage. The driver was trapped inside the truck and was non-responsive, suffering from obvious head injuries.
The Newport News Fire Department extricated the victim and transported him to a local hospital.
The victim was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at the hospital.
