Chesapeake teachers receive honors for outstanding achievements

Chesapeake, Va. – On March 17 Chesapeake Public Schools held their 2016 teacher of the year ceremony at Indian River High School.

At the ceremony, 47 teachers were honored as their individual school’s teacher of the year.

This event also included a high school, middle school, elementary school, and overall teacher of the year awards.

Deborah McNeal, from Southwestern Elementary school was selected as the 2016 Elementary School Teacher of the year.

Michael Oare from Great Bridge Middle School was selected as the 2016 Middle School Teacher of the year.

Susan Hodges from Western Branch High School was selected as the 2016 High School Teacher of the year.

And finally, Toney McNair from Indian River Middle School was selected as the 2016 Chesapeake Teacher of the year.

McNair will now get a chance to compete for state-wide teacher of the year honors.
