Suffolk, Va. – Police and Fire & Rescue crews responded to the scene of a crash involving a car hitting an apartment building on Monday.

It happened at the Autumn Ridge Apartments in the 100 block of Nancy Square. Dispatch received the call just after 2 p.m.

Police say a 59-year-old woman reportedly lost control of her car, hitting a parked car and then the apartment building.

The driver was taken to Sentara Obici Hospital with non-threatening life injuries after being evaluated by Fire & Rescue personnel at the scene.

There was also one female passenger in the car who was not hurt.

No other injuries were reported.

The driver was charged with reckless driving.

Suffolk Planning & Community Development Department building officials responded to determine the structural integrity of the building and the two apartments damaged.

One apartment was deemed not habitable and the resident has been relocated to another unit.

The second apartment had exterior damage and is still habitable.
