Norfolk’s “Keep Norfolk Beautiful” program recognized as best in nation

Norfolk, Va. – Norfolk recently received national recognition for the best clean city programs.

Thanks to the “Keep Norfolk Beautiful” program winning the President Circle Award, Norfolk is recognized as one of the cleanest cities in the nation.

The program was voted the best for creating a more beautiful, cleaner, and improved environment through new technologies, improved waste handling and public space stewardship.

“Keep Norfolk Beautiful” was also recognized for diverting 10,884 curbside tons of material and 455 drop-off tons of recyclables, converting the remaining 61,460 tons of waste to energy, and for organizing two annual “Recycle Norfolk Days”.

The volunteers in this program spent thousands of hours to making the city a greener place is helping us create a vibrant, premier waterfront community for everyone to live, work and play according to City Manager Marcus D.  Jones.
