Man wins $5 million in lottery at Virginia Beach Rite Aid

Virginia Beach, Va. – One Eastern Shore man is having a much better day after he picked up his check for $5 million dollars from the Virginia Lottery.

Addison Matthews of Onancock was in Virginia Beach on Sunday when he bought his lottery ticket.

“I was just passing by and I thought I’d try my luck,” Matthews says.

He purchased a 50x the money ticket which ended up giving him the top prize.

“I was excited.”

He says he could barely sleep.

He purchased ticket from the Rite Aid at 324 Virginia Beach Boulevard.  He had an option to take the full $5 million in annual payments over 30 years or a one-time cash option of $2,808, 989 before taxes. He chose the cash option.

The store also received a $10,000 bonus from the Virginia Lottery.
