HAMPTON, Va. – A nationwide alert about an active shooter at a VA hospital was sent Tuesday, according to Department of Veterans Affairs Spokesman Randy Noller.
Training was being conducted on the VA notification system in Hampton. During the training, an active shooter email was accidentally sent to all employees of the Department of Veterans Affairs nationwide.
Messages were sent to several VA medical hospitals nationwide including locations in Richmond, Hampton and Denver, Colorado.
The messages were recalled immediately.
It is unknown if any hospitals were placed on a brief lock down.
