Police identify man killed in Hampton shooting

HAMPTON, Va. - Police are investigating a homicide that occurred Wednesday in Hampton.

At 8:18 p.m., Hampton dispatch received a call about a shooting in the 4000 block of West Mercury Boulevard.

When police arrived, they found a man in a silver PT Cruiser in the parking lot of a McDonald's. The man, identified as 29-year-old Rashide Sylvester Fraser of Roanoke was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Police say the only person injured was the victim.

Further investigation revealed that Fraser was a passenger in a 2010 PT Cruiser that was parked in the parking lot of the Speedy Mart convenience store located in the 200 block of Lassiter Drive when he was shot and was then transported to the McDonald's restaurant where the driver then called for help.

Police are still investigating the motive and circumstances of the incident. There is no suspect information at this time.
