Tracking a lot of sunshine for Sunday and Monday….After a day of warm temperatures and strong thunderstorms, drier weather will move in for the rest of the weekend. As we move through our Sunday, expect mostly sunny skies as high pressure builds over the area. It will be a slightly cooler day, with winds from the north. So expect highs in the mid and upper 60s. A few inland communities may see highs reach the low 70s.

We’ll start the work week dry with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies, but small rain chances will creep back in for the rest of the week as a couple of weak frontal systems move in. Highs will be in the upper 70s on Monday and the lower 80s by Tuesday.

Also, an Air Quality Alert remains in effect for Mainland Dare County through 7 am Sunday due to the wildfire on the Dare/Hyde county line in North Carolina.

Saturday Night: Mostly Clear and Cool. Low temperatures in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Winds: N 10-15 mph.

Sunday: Mostly Sunny. A Little Cooler. High temperatures in the mid and upper 60s. Winds: N/NE 10-15 mph.

Monday: Mostly Sunny. Warm and Breezy. High temperatures in the upper 70s. Winds: SW 10-15 mph.
