CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Western Branch High School has installed a single rooftop solar energy system made up of over 3,000 solar panels.
The panels can generate electricity for about 200 homes at peak sunlight hours.
The system is the largest of its kind in Virginia.
Dominion Power and Chesapeake Public Schools are holding a ribbon cutting ceremony for the project on Wednesday. Several officials from Chesapeake Public Schools and Dominion Power will attend, as well as Governor Terry McAuliffe.
Students, teachers, local officials and community leaders in attendance will learn more about the solar system and how the panels work.
