YORKTOWN, Va. – The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a man from a grounded sailboard early Thursday morning approximately 12 miles northeast of Yorktown.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Milford Haven received a report on Wednesday night at 9:36 p.m. that a man on a 33-foot sailboat had run aground near New Point Comfort lighthouse and was unable to refloat the vessel.
A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium from Station Milford Haven launched at 10:04 p.m. and reached the scene at 11:37 p.m.
The Coast Guard boat towed the sailboat to Riverwalk Landing Marina in Yorktown, arriving at 3:33 a.m. Thursday.
No injuries or pollution were reported.
