VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – A man pleaded guilty Monday to a charge of Conspiracy to Commit Murder for the 2013 murder of 20-year-old Kristopher Daniel Lee.
Lee was shot and killed on October 29, 2013 in the 5900 block of Clear Springs Court in Virginia Beach.
The Commonwealth evaluated whether evidence was sufficient enough to prove that Dau-Shawn Newton’s involvement in the murder warranted a second-degree murder charge. The Commonwealth concluded that the evidence better supported a charge of Conspiracy to Commit Murder.
Newton pleaded guilty and received a sentence of 10 years in prison with all but six years and five months suspended.
The shooter, Jordan Champion, pleaded guilty in April and is scheduled to be sentenced on September 12, 2016.
