North Carolina Governor McCrory declares May Motorcycle Safety awareness month

Rakeigh, NC. – McCrory wants to encourage drivers to share the road with motorcyclist.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation will promote awareness for motorcyclist during the month of May to help prevent motorcycle crashes, deaths, and injuries on the state’s roadways.

Motorcycle injuries in North Carolina decreased by around 200 injuries from 2014 to 2015.

However, motorcycle deaths from 2014 to 2015 have increased by 14.2%.

As it starts to get warm outside, more and more people will be on the roads including more motorcyclist.

The state of North Carolina just wants to make sure those who ride motorcycles are safe by wearing proper helmets and driving with caution on the roads.

North Carolina law requires that motorcyclist wear a Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard helmet.
