VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Aaron Tornell Carter, 26, will spend 15 years behind bars for forcible sodomy, two counts of aggravated sexual battery, custodial indecent liberties and indecent liberties after sexually abusing two children.

Carter was sentenced to 35 years in prison, but 20 years were suspended. He was found guilty of the charges on November 30, 2015.

The Commonwealth’s evidence proved that Carter sexually abused two children known to him between April 2013 and May 2014.

As he was molesting one of the minors late at night, the victim’s sibling woke up and witnessed it. The sibling told a family member about the incident and police launched an investigation into the allegations.

During the investigation, an additional victim was discovered.

Carter denied abusing the victims, but admitted to being alone in a locked bedroom with one of them.

He has a prior conviction for attempt to possess a firearm after being involuntary committed.
