Virginia Beach, Va. - Monster trucks are taking over the Virginia Beach Oceanfront for the annual Monsters on the Beach.
The longstanding tradition happens every year on Mother's Day weekend.
Four shows with two and a half hours of racing and excitement take place right on the Oceanfront course with bleachers lining the boardwalk for the thousands who come and watch.
"Children love it, as well as adults. Grandparents bring their grand-kids to this event," says Mike Hilton, the director of marketing at Beach Events. "I think it's just the excitement of the trucks racing. They're huge, you never know whats going to happen with these trucks. There's a lot going on, it's fun, it's fast and its thrilling."
Eight trucks have been announced so far, including Heavy Hitter, Dog Pound, Brutus and Stone Crusher.
The shows start Friday night.
