Giavanni Ruffin is on the 90-man roster for the Seattle Seahawks and is at mini-camp right now.
Giavanni played football in his senior year at Hickory High School in Chesapeake. Giavanni Ruffin only played football for his senior season at Hickory High School in Chesapeake, but that was enough to get some attention of college coaches. After that, he went on to play for East Carolina University.
He's been training for the last five years, hoping to get a chance to play in the NFL.
His training partner, Seattle Seahawks' Kam Chancellor, noticed his athleticism was on the same playing field as many of the players he competed against in the NFL.
Chancellor told the team about Ruffin, and the Seahawks took a look at the one-time college standout.
Now, Giavanni is at camp in Seattle. He says he will continue to work hard to make the 53-man roster in August.
"I wanna do this for all the people that didn't believe in themselves," Giavanni said. "that didn't think I'm going to keep going, keep fighting, I'm going to compete. I don't want nothing handed to me, I'm going to go out there everyday and give it 150%."
