Out of a total of 76,512 winning tickets purchased in Virginia, two residents won big in Saturday night’s Powerball drawing.

One ticket won $1 million and another ticket won $100,000.

The ticket that won $1 million was bought at the 7-Eleven on 6720 Old Dominion Drive in McLean. It matched the first five numbers and only missed the Powerball number.

The ticket that won $100,000 matched four of the first five numbers, plus the Powerball number.

Usually that would win $50,000 but whoever bought the ticket spent an extra dollar for Power Play when he or she bought the ticket, increasing the prize to $100,000. It was bought at the Fas Mart on 338 East Williamsburg Road in Sandston.

There was no jackpot winner in the 18 drawings leading up to last night’s drawing, but the sale of Powerball tickets in Virginia generated around $7.6 million in profits. All of the profits will go to K-12 education in Virginia.
