VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – A police chase has ended in a car crash at Naval Air Station Oceana Dam Neck Annex.
The incident started with a hit and run crash around 2 p.m. on Monday in the area of Pacific Avenue and Norfolk Avenue.
A woman driving a white Mercedes drove away from the scene without stopping to check on any possible injuries.
About 20 minutes after the crash, an officer spotted the Mercedes near General Booth Boulevard and Prosperity Road.
Police say a woman was driving at a dangerous, high speed with a flat tire. Debris was falling off of the car and fell on to the police car pursuing the suspect vehicle, damaging the car.
The car turned onto Dam Neck Road towards Naval Air Station Oceana Dam Neck Annex.
The car entered the base and eventually hit a traffic circle and crashed into a car before coming to a stop. Emergency crews responded to the crash at the intersection of General Booth Blvd. and Oceana Blvd.
The suspect was taken to the hospital with injuries. The extent of the woman's injuries are unknown at this time.
The driver of the car hit inside of the base was not injured.
Police are still investigating the crash.
