HAMPTON, Va. - Hampton is the birth place of America's space program, and it's also where you can go to visit the Virginia Air & Space Center.
The Virginia Air & Space Center opened in 1992 through joint efforts of the City of Hampton and NASA Langley Research Center. The center serves as the visitor center for NASA Langley Research Center and Langley Air Force Base.
The center features a five-story high IMAX theater, more than 30 historic aircraft, and many more exhibits to explore.
Even if you're not a science geek, the museum makes it fun to learn all about space and aviation with several interactive and hands-on elements.
The Virginia Air & Space Center is also home to the Apollo 12 Command Module, and Orion PA-1 test vehicle.
