CARROLLTON, Va. – Investigators are still trying to find the man who kidnapped and sexually assaulted an 11-year old girl in 2013.
“This has been an exhaustive and in-depth case,” said Lt. Tommy Potter from the Isle of Wight County Sheriff’s Office. “We’re going to catch him.”
The girl was walking to her bus stop on the morning of Oct. 2, when a man in a car drove up to her and forcibly put her in the car. He then drove her through Suffolk, Northeastern North Carolina, and then back to Isle of Wight County. Along the way, he sexually assaulted her twice.
“This is a very disturbing course of events that took place over that four hour time frame,” said Lt. Potter.
The girl’s vivid memory helped investigators create a detailed sketch. She also remembered his car. After nearly 800 tips, there have been no arrests in the case.
In a NewsChannel 3 investigation, Lt. Potter shows reporter Brendan Ponton the case file to continue to get the word out about the investigation.
The evidence shown could help bring a family closure.
