Suffolk Police searching for driver of SUV that collided with train

Suffolk, Va.- Suffolk Police are investigating after an SUV collided with a train near downtown Suffolk early Thursday morning. The driver and two passengers then fled from the scene.

Police say it was about 1:10 a.m. when they responded to the crash near Railroad Avenue and North Capital Street. The vehicle, a white 1999 Mercedes-Benz ML320, had collided with a Norfolk Southern train.

Investigators say the driver and two passengers fled the scene. Two of the passengers were located a short distance away. They were treated by medics and taken to the hospital.

Police are still searching for the driver of the SUV.

No word on whether or not the passengers will be facing charges.
