RED HOOK, Brooklyn — A 51-year-old woman sitting on a bench was found dead with a slashed throat in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn on Thursday, according to the NYPD.
Police first responded to a report of a “past assault” in front of 110 W. Ninth St. at 4:31 a.m., according to WPIX.
Arriving officers discovered the woman sitting on a bench with a slash wound to her throat.
EMS pronounced her dead at the scene. She was later identified as Sharon Whigham, who lived nearby along Columbia Street.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
