Deadly train accident in Williamsburg ruled accidental

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – A man died after being hit by a train early Friday morning.

The accident happened shortly after 3 a.m. near 715 Lafayette Street.

Police said the victim was 25-year-old Kenneth Gene Graham III from Shady Spring, West Virginia who was in town working as a contractor.

Graham was hit by the train as he was attempting to cross the tracks in an effort to get back to his hotel.

Witnesses told NewsChannel 3 they tried to warn Graham to get off of the tracks. The train operator blew the horn, but he did not move.

Williamsburg Police said the death appeared to be accidental.
