Your kids can go for the day or choose the overnight option.

And for your animal lovers, how about Critter Camp?

Kids can spend all day up close and personal with their favorite furry friends at the Virginia Beach SPCA.

They host week long summer camps that give kids a behind the scenes look at the animal shelter, take them on field trips to state parks and seashore ecosystems and teach them everything they need to know about the animals in our area.

Or camp could be a great time to get your kids into something new.

Norfolk Karate Academy has two week long camps geared toward beginners and are all about building confidence and leadership skills.

"We feel like if a student has good character and we help them develop those positive leadership roles that theyre going to be able to use what they learn physically to be able to stand up for themselves," Aubrey Odem, the operations manager. "We want them to have the confidence to do whats right when they're being bullied and also stand up for others who may not have those skills. So they kind of become a hero."

Kids leave Norfolk Karate Academy with martial art technique, but even more importantly, leadership and self confidence.
