SUFFOLK, Va. – Two people were hospitalized and multiple others were injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Suffolk on Tuesday morning.
The crash occurred just before 7:30 a.m. on Portsmouth Boulevard/Route 58 just before the downtown Suffolk exit and involved a tractor-trailer, a dump truck and two passenger vehicles.
All of the drivers and passengers involved in the accident received emergency medical assessment by Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel. The driver and a passenger in the Nissan Altima were ground transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. There were no other injuries reported.
Two lanes of travel were open immediately following the accident, with one lane closed due to the heavy amount of debris in the roadway. All lanes of the affected roadway reopened at 8:30 a.m.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
