HAMPTON ROADS, Va. – Virginia529 College Savings Plans awarded 21 Virginia newborns a $529 college savings account on May 29, 2016. The infants won because they were born the closest to 5:29 p.m. on that day.
Hospitals all over Virginia had winning babies. There were 3 lucky winners in Hampton Roads. The Payne family welcomed baby Hunter at Sentara Princess Anne Hospital in Virginia Beach and the Ahanchi family welcomed twins, Griffon and Oliver at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk.
The giveaway was part of an initiative to raise awareness for the cost of college and the importance of saving early in order to avoid student debt.
