Virginia Beach, Va. - Two students at the Art Institute of Virginia Beach just got back from the trip of a lifetime.
They were one of seven teams chosen to attend a two week full immersion culinary course on Italian cuisine at Universita dei Sapori in Perugia, Italy.
The competition was to create new and original ideas for dishes that feature truffles as their main ingredient.
Andrea Stevens and JoVania Newby were one team of seven awarded the scholarship from the Paolo Urbani Foundation.
They created two dishes, one is a chocolate truffle pasta with truffle creme anglaise and cherry pearls with truffle candied almonds. The other dish was a duo, a savory baklava with truffle honey, truffle whipped cream and shrimp, and truffled potato Au gratin with cuddle fish and tarragon foam.
