HAMPTON, Va. – In September, 2015, officers arrived on the scene of a motorcycle crash on Coliseum Drive in Hampton. Officer Aronategui and Sergeant Gainer acted quickly to save motorcyclist’s life after their leg was severed below the hip by applying a tourniquet to the leg.
Medics later informed Hampton Police Department that without applying the tourniquet the victim would not have survived the accident.
Each officer involved assisting the motorcyclist that day were awarded the “Call of the Year” Award for their bravery and quick thinking.
