VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – A suspicious envelope was mailed to the Virginia Beach Court House on Friday.
According to the Virginia beach Sheriff’s office, the Virginia Beach Fire Department responded when a powdery substance was found in an envelope that was mailed to the building.
Deputies from the Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Office immediately evacuated the building and shut down the HVAC system to prevent the substance from spreading.
A HazMat team entered the building and secured the substance, which tested negative for any hazardous material.
The individuals who came in contact with the envelope were evaluated and released with no injuries.
The incident remains under investigation by the Virginia Beach Fire Department with assistance from the Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Office Criminal Intelligence Unit.
