VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Police are investigating two break-ins at nearby homes near Lynnhaven Mall.

In one instance, someone broke into a woman's house off of Lynnhaven Parkway at around 6 a.m. on Monday.

The alarm of the home went off after someone kicked in the front door. When police arrived, the only thing missing was the woman's dog.

"The only think I could notice that was missing was my baby," said the woman, who didn't want to be identified. "Where's Bailey?"

She tried calling his name, but didn't get a response. "I was just crying because I was really worried they had taken him," said the woman. Luckily, someone found the dog later that night and reported him to the SPCA. The dog has a microchip, allowing him to be traced back to his owner.

Police believe this truck is the suspect’s vehicle. The truck is described as a white 4-door Ford F250 with a sunroof and silver sidesteps.

Right now, it's not clear if someone stole the dog and then dropped him off or if he got loose during the break-in. The dog isn't hurt.

Nearby, Joseph Fischer's home was also broken into sometime between 6:30 a.m. and 7:10 a.m., but no one took anything as the alarm went off. "It's your home. It should be your safe space and when that gets violated, it's really unfair actually," said Fischer.
