Chesapeake, Va – A mother and her four children are without a home after being displaced by a fire early Thursday morning.

Firefighters responded to the house fire in the 700 block of Quail Avenue in the South Norfolk section of the city just before 2:30am. Smoke and flames were coming from the home.

Firefighters brought the fire under control in just under 30 minutes.

The mother and children were able to make it out of the home safely and no one was injured.

Fire department officials say the cause of the fire appears to be related to cooking.

The Red Cross is assisting the family.
