VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Emergency crews rescued two people Saturday morning after their boat partially submerged in the water near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel.
The call came in around 9:28 a.m.
According to the Virginia Beach Fire Dept., Virginia Beach marine vessels spotted the two people sitting on rocks on the third island of the CBBT.
The island is one of four man-made islands where the roadway transitions from bridge to tunnel. It is commonly used as a landmark by boaters and fishermen.
The people were taken to Little Creek and their boat was towed away.
It’s unclear at this point what caused the boat to partially submerge.
