Investigators arrest sex offender wanted in Gloucester rape investigation

GLOUCESTER, Va. – The Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that they arrested a registered sex offender wanted in an abduction and rape investigation.

On June 9, deputies received a complaint from a woman who said Robert “Bobby” Stokes, 57, sexually assaulted her.

Stokes is listed as a violent sex offender on the Virginia State Police Sex Offender Registry.

Warrants were issued for rape and abduction.

Stokes was found at a residence on Waverly Lane in Gloucester around 1 a.m. Sunday morning. He is being held in the Gloucester County Jail with no bond.
