GLOUCESTER COUNTY, Va. – Virginia State Police are investigating a crash that killed one person.
The accident happened at around 8:44 p.m. on Powhatan Drive and Mission Lane.
Police say a deputy from the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office tried to stop two motorcycles for speeding.
The driver of one of the motorcycles, identified as 26-year-old Cregg Cartwright, eluded police and sped off down Powhatan Drive.
A 2008 Toyota Camry made a turn onto Powhatan Drive from Mission Lane when it was struck by the motorcycle.
Cartwright died at the scene.
It is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
