SUFFOLK, Va. – One person was injured in a shooting in Suffolk early Wednesday, according to Suffolk Police.
The victim has been identified as Darius Deshawn Pillard, age 23, of Woodbridge, Virginia.
A Suffolk Police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driving recklessly in the 1200 block of North Main Street just after midnight.
When the officer made contact with the people in the vehicle, it was discovered that Pillard was suffering from a gunshot wound and had allegedly been robbed.
Pillard received emergency medical treatment from Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel and was transported to an area hospital for additional treatment. He is expected to be okay.
Detectives are investigating the shooting and do not have a suspect or motive at this time.
