NORFOLK, Va. – According to a statement released by the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office Friday, the use of deadly force by police on Tyre Privott was justified.

Privott was killed by officers in the 8400 block of Chesapeake Blvd. on March 11.

He had been identified as the suspect in the murder of 24-year-old Chaz Hall in Ocean View.

Less than five hours after Chaz Hall’s murder, officers found a man matching Privott’s description walking in the street near the intersection of Chesapeake Boulevard and Fishermans Road.

Police say the man shot at the officers when they tried to approach him. One officer returned fire, killing him.
